A brief whinge

I thought there was nothing more frusterating than when the same symbol is used for several different concepts, especially when you learn the concepts sequentially.

(Gibbs free energy becomes conductance with a a wave of my magic math wand!)

I was wrong. It's worse when the same concept is described in several different symbols IN THE SAME LECTURE.

I think I'm going to pull some of math tricks out of my . . . hat. "And now we multiply by three, and add the radius of the Earth. Why? Because it just feels good."

I promise, on Wednesday, I'll stop talking about finals. And I won't start again for at least three more months.

Something sinister afoot.

We just got a new spice rack, and it's been pretty sweet. It rotates, serves paprika and garlic. It seemed good. Almost too good.

That's when I noticed things starting to get odd. My copy of "The Prince" and "The Communist Manifesto" kept getting left in the kitchen. The salt and pepper started to complain that they wanted a union. And just yesterday, I left the kitchen a mess, I came back and the forks had . . . organized.

Is it possible? Is my spice rack starting the revolution?

Radio

I discovered a new radio station in Ottawa. It kept me entertained for a good couple of days . . . before I memorized all the songs on the playlist.

Anyone know any internet radio stations that play good music? I need loud and angry music to study to, or a beat and scads of repeition. Electronia works . . . so does Billy Talent.

This exam period, I've been surviving on tonic water (I thought it MIGHT be a bad idea to mix gin with it when I'm trying to study) and Masterchoice food. Which leads me to an IMPORTANT LIFE QUESTION:

Does Masterchoice cook for me because it really loves me, or does it just do it FOR THE MONEY?

Rachel again,

Ok, so I owe about a million stories, and there have been some doozies. A while back I thought the place was burning down (well, I was walking home, and the firetruck followed me home, and pulled up right next to my house. Luckily, it had been called to the skivvy place accross the street!). And the Death Cab for Cutie concert was FANTABULOUS. I also have a couple good drinking stories.

But the purpose of this post . . . my last exam is on the 20th, LATE, so I won't be home until the 21st at the earliest. There are a couple parties in Ottawa that I _might_ stay for, but I'm tempted not, since they're on the 22nd, and then I'm not home until the day before Christmas. So I fully expect to see all you crazy townies back in town soonish. :)

Hey all! Caitlin here. Just letting you all know I just posted pictures of our Halloween house party (a little late I know, but I couldn't figure out how to work the uploading thing!) and of the anime convention I went to over the past weekend. Hope you can find them in our picture galleries... I really am a n00b when it comes to livejournal so forgive me if I've screwed something up!

A cutting remark

Yes, the subject of today's post is cutting. And no, I'm not nearly emo enough to inflict such pain on myself. No, today's post is about cutting meat.

Why is this interesting, you ask? Clearly, you've never made dinner with fancy French knives. (Pronounced g-nives. Don't ask me, ask the French.) I have never cut anything so well. I literally felt as if I wasn't cutting anything at all, but the chicken was somehow in neat pieces before me. It was awesome.

Ok, that wasn't as interesting to write about as it sounded in my head. Instead, pretend you just read a post about me dealing illicit substances to minors, then evading capture by giant ninja rabbits. That'll be more interesting.

Life's Little Lesson

It's R. (Damn, I need a good nickname. Anyone? Anyone?)

I've learned a lot of the past three days, and I've managed, through hard work, effort, and good looks, to transform my new knowledge into four succient lessons that we can all take something from. And so, to save you the pain that I have suffered, here are my life lessons, in the order in which they occured.

1. Just because you're hungry does not make it a good idea to turn up the temperature on the oven.

2. Even if you can't focus at 11 pm, you still shouldn't drink three cups of coffee.

3. If you print out two identical maps from the same website, and when you lie them down side by side, the north arrows point in different directions, you should always check that both pages are horizontal.

4. Freezers doors should not be impacted at high velocities.

Hello to the big world out there!

Hey there everyone!

So, I finally gave in and got livejournal. But I also dragged my roomies (kicking and screaming, of course) into it with me. So this is the continuing saga of our apartment, lovingly nicknamed "The Dungeon".

Upcoming events include: Pictures of me dressed as an emo. Unfortunately, they aren't taken in blue and black, but on the plus side, I was able to stop laughing long enough for my roomies to hit the "Capture" button. (Extra features include goofs: When I couldn't stop laughing.)

Laters, ma peeps!!
